About

“I Believe that Resilience is a Super Power.”

Behind the Name

“I learned the true meaning of the word "resiliency" in college while studying to be a social worker as an undergrad, and it really stood out to me.

Early in my career, I worked with victims of human trafficking and later with children who had been through horrific ordeals, including sexual assault. The meaning of the word began to make more and more sense to me. Resilience doesn’t mean you overcome or get over what you have gone through. What happened to you remains a part of you, but your inner strength helps move you through those painful experiences into a stronger, more resilient you.

Some of the most loving couples I've worked with over the years are those who have gone through really difficult events in their life. I have seen that the more they learn to lean toward each other, the more resilient they become and their relationships are stronger because of it.

This is how Resiliency Trauma and Couples Therapy was born.”

The Heart of The Practice

Over the past 19 years I have worked with children, adults, and families navigating deep pain and complex stories. I grew in respect and admiration of these individuals and drew inspiration from their strength and resiliency in my own life.

I understand pain, loss, and resilience, not just professionally, but personally. I lost my sister to suicide 10 years ago while she was in an abusive relationship. I have navigated my own divorce, remarriage, and the complexities of a blended family life. I have experienced pregnancy loss, fertility struggles, and the beautiful chaos of motherhood in my 40s.

I do not share this to center my story, but to let you know, I get it. I understand the messy, painful, hope-filled work of healing. I have walked through my own dark valleys, and I know the way forward exists, even when you cannot see it yet.

I have huge admiration for anyone who is brave enough to walk into a stranger's office and allow themselves to be vulnerable. To gain better insight or learn tools to improve their lives. I do my best to welcome every client with admiration and respect.

My Background

I'm a first-generation Mexican-American woman who has worked as a forensic social worker, psychiatric social worker, and clinical social worker across diverse settings and populations.

The first four years of my career post-MSW were spent working as a forensic interviewer and forensic social worker with young children who had been victims of sexual abuse, human trafficking, and witnessed homicides, as well as young women leaving the life of sex trafficking and others escaping labor exploitation. I also  have an extensive background working with the immigrant population.

During my career, I've facilitated grief and bereavement support groups and received specialized training to work with survivors of homicide loss and survivors of suicide loss. Loss is very difficult, especially when it's unexpected or sudden, this is something I understand both professionally and personally.

What Makes My Practice Different

I have invested time and effort in training to support you through what you are going through.

My intensives are deeply compassionate while addressing the hard truths that need to be named. I also draw from my knowledge of impaired systems and remain culturally sensitive, humble, and responsive to my clients' experiences. I welcome the first-generation couple that is breaking chains and smashing glass ceilings!

My Commitment to You

I am committed to my clients' treatments. I want you to achieve the goals you set out for yourself. My referrals and supervisees have mostly been word of mouth, clients who feel real care, experience no judgment, and who get better and feel better.

I approach therapy with compassion, curiosity, and deep respect for your lived experience. Whether you're working through trauma, rebuilding trust in your relationship, navigating grief, or finding your way after loss, I'm here to walk alongside you with warmth, skill, and genuine belief in your capacity to heal.
